A campus for the University of the Fraser Valley is located in Abbotsford.
Air travel for the city goes through the Abbotsford International Airport.
One of the largest industries is farming. Abbotsford is the largest dollar per acre of farming land in Canada. Earnings were around $1 billion in 2021.
The Abbotsford Canucks of the American Hockey League (AHL) play at the Abbotsford Centre. They are the AHL farm team for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League (NHL). They used to be home to the Abbotsford Heat from 2009 until 2014. Abbotsford used to be home to the Fraser Valley Bandits of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) until they moved to Langley.
