Okay, go ahead you can start to create some articles to which you refer, and not without reason or justification to remove referenced information. Greetings.--190.162.111.147 05:11, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
I reverted, because you had bad template:babel on your page. If those template was bed you schould request for deletion of them, not breaking redirect. Malarz pl (talk) 13:26, 8 October 2012 (UTC)

I have answered your message in my talk page.--Calak (talk) 10:04, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
Hi Varlaam,
I saw your interaction with SpaceBirdy both on meta and here, and I'm confused. Could you point me to the policy that states where users must disclose their location? Such a policy would be exceedingly unusual and I'm not at all pleased to hear that it exists. I appreciate your help in tracking this down. Philippe Beaudette, Wiki Foundation (talk) 01:30, 3 Dizember 2012 (UTC)
Just letting you know you have email. Feel free to contact me with any queries, concerns, etc -- if i cant help personally, I will try to give you the best people to do so.
Your response on my IP talk was no substitute for an explanation as to why you insist on maintaining this (and quite a few other pages) as broken redirects that lead nowhere. 71.127.139.4 02:57, 24 Dizember 2012 (UTC)
Thanks a lot! Happy christmas to you too! ;-) --Frigotoni ...i'm here; 17:23, 25 Dizember 2012 (UTC)
66 has not responded. That is me, Varlaam, the scowiki manager, speaking.
Who are you to be so concerned about a project you have nothing to do with?
You are an IP user. And it's Christmas time. Why am I spending my Boxing Days dealing with these trivialities?
You stated your point of view. Fine. That matter has been settled. 66 is free to deal with Arcos, when he is not busy doing something that matters to anyone who contributes here.
Do not import your attitude from enwiki and wave it in our faces.
I am also a Master Editor at enwiki in my spare time. Happy Boxing Day, Varlaam (talk) 18:51, 27 Dizember 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, but I would prefer to ask this question in English. I am a native speaker of English and have no experience in Scots, but am interested in continuing to edit the Scots Wiki Scots. I have been using an online dictionary to make very minor edits thus far, and hope that as I continue to read more Scots, I will gain a better understanding of the grammar and style used on this wiki. Would it be okay if I continued to try and edit for a bit, or would you recommend that I just not make things worse, since I have no experience in Scots at all?

One strange translation I found in there once is "faur ben". That literally makes little sense, but OSD says it means "popular". So I have used it once or twice.
When User:Nou Uiserr, not a Scot, wrote A.G. Barr, the article was corrected by User:Derek Ross, a Scot, who changed "faur ben" to "weel-kent", noting:
"faur ben" means "a lang wey inside" gin it means onything
Precisely. Derek Ross wrote that on 23 September 2005 here.
Have I noticed anything else in the OSD that seemed unreasonable or unlikely? I think the answer to that is no; "faur ben" may be unique. As an addendum, I could note that the author of the OSD is not a perfect speller.

Hi. Saw your message on my talkpage. I redid Burke and Hare because I spotted some clear factual errors, but what prompted me to do it in the first place was that reference to English law which did not pertain in Scotland. I've relied mainly on William Roughhead's classic account in the British Trials Series for my revised version. I think you'll find I've taken pains over trying to achieve accuracy. Take a look at the last external link to see the history of dissection in Scotland (the general development parallels that of England but one can't cite changes in English law which simply didn't apply here). I am awaiting word on one point of accuracy from the Edinburgh Medical School. I know that a life mask was made of Burke in his condemned cell, but have left the original reference to a mask at Surgeons' Hall Museum being a death mask. I've asked them to confirm if that is indeed the case, or whether it's another copy of the life mask. Kim Traynor (talk) 17:32, 19 Januar 2013 (UTC)

Invitation to the Medical Translation Project – a joint Wiki project started by the English language WikiProject Medicine! Thank you for being one of the top Medical editors! I want to use this opportunity to introduce you to our most ambitious project. We want to use Wikipedia to spread knowledge where it will be used. Studies have shown that Wikipedia is the most common resource of medical knowledge, and used by more people than any other source! We want high quality articles, available to everyone, regardless of language ability. It isn't right that you would need to know a major language to get hold of quality content! That is why in the recent Ebola crisis (which is still ongoing) we translated information into over 70 languages, many of them small African languages. This was important, as Wikipedia was also shown to be the biggest resource used in Africa for information on Ebola! We see tremendous potential, but also great risks as our information needs to be accurate and well-researched. We only translate articles that have been reviewed by medical doctors and experts, so that what we translate is correct. Many of our translators are professionals, but many are also volunteers, and we need more of you guys – both to translate, but also to import finished translations, and fix grammatical or other style issues that are introduced by the translation process. Our articles are not only translated into small languages, but also to larger ones, but as of 2015 this requires users to apply for an article to be translated, which can be done here (full articles, short articles) with an easy to manage google document. So regardless of your background head over to our main page for more information, or to our talk page and ask us questions. Feel free to respond in any language, we will do our best to find some way to communicate. No task is too small, and we need everyone to help out!
Thank you for helping medical information on Wikipedia grow! -- CFCF 🍌 (email) 15:37, 28 January 2015 (UTC) |
