Summary[edit]

Description
English: This graph shows greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture between 1990-2010, by region. The regions are Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. Emissions are measured in gigatonnes (billion tonnes) of carbon-dioxide-equivalent (GtCO2e).

Summary

Across all agricultural sectors, total emissions in 1990 were around 4.1 GtCO2e. In 2000, total emissions had increased to 4.2 GtCO2e, which is an increase of 1.9% compared to 1990 levels. In 2010, total emissions were around 4.3 GtCO2e (an increase of 13% compared to 1990 levels).

Summarized below are the percentage contributions of each region to total emissions. Data are given for 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005, and 2010, respectively:

  • Africa: 9.2, 9.7, 10.9, 11.8, 12.4
  • Americas: 25.3, 26.4, 26.5, 27.6, 26.8
  • Asia: 39.8, 44.2, 45.0, 44.9, 46.5
  • Europe: 22.0, 16.1, 14.0, 12.3, 11.4
  • Oceania: 3.7, 3.5, 3.6, 3.4, 2.9

Contributions of each region to total emissions in GtCO2e. Data are given in the same order as previously:

  • Africa: 0.38, 0.41, 0.46, 0.52, 0.58
  • Americas: 1.05, 1.11, 1.12, 1.23, 1.26
  • Asia: 1.65, 1.86, 1.90, 2.00, 2.18
  • Europe: 0.91, 0.68, 0.59, 0.55, 0.53
  • Oceania: 0.15, 0.15, 0.15, 0.15, 0.14
  • Total: 4.15, 4.20, 4.23, 4.45, 4.69

This graph image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}.

It is recommended to name the SVG file “Greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture, by region, 1990-2010.svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.
