C'est un scan en gros plan d'une « fibre noire » composé de 144 fibres optiques monomode d'une capacité nominale de 2,5 Gb/s. Ce type de fibre est enterré sous terre pour former des réseaux à l'échelle métropolitaine voire internationale.

Celle-ci est utilisée entre autres sur le réseau Pau Broadband Country.
