Oh Shenandoah

Songen verkar å ha oppstått hos kanadiske og amerikanske reisande eller pelshandlar som reiste ned Missourielva i kanoar, og har utvikla seg med fleire forskjellige tekstar. Nokre tekstar viser til oneidahøvdingen Shenandoah og ei kanofarande kjøpmann som ønskte å gifte seg med dottera hans. Midt på 1800-talet hadde songen blitt ein sjanti som vart sungen av sjømenn kring om verda.

Songen har nummer 324 i Roud Folk Song Index. Medlemmmar av Western Writers of America valde songen til ein av dei hundre beste western-songane gjennom tidene.
