Datos

Kuris labiausiai tinka? Etoza (aptarimas) 23:12, 23 spalio 2021 (EEST)

Upcoming Call for Feedback about the Board of Trustees elections

The Board of Trustees is preparing a call for feedback about the upcoming Board Elections, from January 7 - February 10, 2022.

While details will be finalized the week before the call, we have confirmed at least two questions that will be asked during this call for feedback:

  • What is the best way to ensure fair representation of emerging communities among the Board?
  • What involvement should candidates have during the election?

While additional questions may be added, the Movement Strategy and Governance team wants to provide time for community members and affiliates to consider and prepare ideas on the confirmed questions before the call opens. We apologize for not having a complete list of questions at this time. The list of questions should only grow by one or two questions. The intention is to not overwhelm the community with requests, but provide notice and welcome feedback on these important questions.

Do you want to help organize local conversation during this Call?

Contact the Movement Strategy and Governance team on Meta, on Telegram, or via email at msgforumas wikimedia.org.

Reach out if you have any questions or concerns. The Movement Strategy and Governance team will be minimally staffed until January 3. Please excuse any delayed response during this time. We also recognize some community members and affiliates are offline during the December holidays. We apologize if our message has reached you while you are on holiday.

Best,

Movement Strategy and Governance

Updates on the Universal Code of Conduct Enforcement Guidelines Review

Hello everyone,

The Wiki Foundation Board of Trustees released a statement on the ratification process for the Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) Enforcement Guidelines.

The Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) provides a baseline of acceptable behavior for the entire movement. The UCoC and the Enforcement Guidelines were written by volunteer-staff drafting committees following community consultations.

The revised guidelines were published 24 January 2022 as a proposed way to apply the policy across the movement. There is a list of changes made to the guidelines after the enforcement draft guidelines review. Comments about the guidelines can be shared on the Enforcement Guidelines talk page on Meta-wiki.

To help to understand the guidelines and process, the Movement Strategy and Governance (MSG) team will be hosting Conversation Hours on 4 February 2022 at 15:00 UTC, 25 February 2022 at 12:00 UTC, and 4 March 2022 at 15:00 UTC. Join the conversation hours to speak with the UCoC project team and drafting committee members about the updated guidelines and voting process.

The timeline is available on Meta-wiki. The voting period is March 7 to 21. All eligible voters will have an opportunity to support or oppose the adoption of the Enforcement guidelines, and share why. See the voting information page for more details.

Many participants from across the movement have provided valuable input in these ongoing conversations. The UCoC and MSG teams want to thank the Drafting Committee and the community members for their contributions to this process.

Sincerely,

Movement Strategy and Governance

Hugo.arg (aptarimas) 18:18, 24 vasario 2022 (EET)

Invitation to Hubs event: Global Conversation on 2022-03-12 at 13:00 UTC

Hello!

The Movement Strategy and Governance team of the Wiki Foundation would like to invite you to the next event about "Regional and Thematic Hubs". The Wiki Movement is in the process of understanding what Regional and Thematic Hubs should be. Our workshop in November was a good start (read the report), but we're not finished yet.

Over the last weeks we conducted about 16 interviews with groups working on establishing a Hub in their context (see Hubs Dialogue). These interviews informed a report that will serve as a foundation for discussion on March 12. The report is planned to be published on March 9.

The event will take place on March 12, 13:00 to 16:00 UTC on Zoom. Interpretation will be provided in French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, and Portuguese. Registration is open, and will close on March 10. Anyone interested in the topic is invited to join us. More information on the event on Meta-wiki.

Greetings,

The ratification voting process for the revised enforcement guidelines of the Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) came to a close on 21 March 2022. Over 2300 Wikimedians voted across different regions of our movement. Thank you to everyone who participated in this process! The scrutinizing group is now reviewing the vote for accuracy, so please allow up to two weeks for them to finish their work.

The final results from the voting process will be announced here, along with the relevant statistics and a summary of comments as soon as they are available. Please check out the voter information page to learn about the next steps. You can comment on the project talk page on Meta-wiki in any language. Next steps: Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) and UCoC Enforcement Guidelines

After reviewing vote results and accompanying comments, the Community Affairs Committee decided to launch a fresh round of community consultations. After that, the refined text of the Guidelines will be put for another vote.

The comments have shown that community members unequivocally support creating a safe and welcoming culture that stops hostile and toxic behaviour, supports victims of such actions, and encourages good-faith people to be productive on the Wiki projects. While the results did show that support for the UCoC Guidelines exceeded the required 50%+1 vote, the comments highlighted that further revisions would be required to have strong community support to follow through with enforcement.

Therefore the Committee instructed the Foundation to:

Conduct another round of community consultations, and put the newly-refined Guidelines for a community vote.

The WMF team will seek feedback on four topics that stood out among the voter comments. You can learn more about the four topics and the Committee's findings on this Meta page.

Wiki Foundation Board of Trustees election 2022 - Call for Election Volunteers

The Movement Strategy and Governance team is looking for community members to serve as election volunteers in the upcoming Board of Trustees election.

The idea of the Election Volunteer Program came up during the 2021 Wiki Board of Trustees Election. This program turned out to be successful. With the help of Election Volunteers we were able to increase outreach and participation in the election by 1,753 voters over 2017. Overall turnout was 10.13%, 1.1 percentage points more, and 214 wikis were represented in the election.

There were a total of 74 wikis that did not participate in 2017 that produced voters in the 2021 election. Can you help increase the participation even more?

Election volunteers will help in the following areas:

  • Translate short messages and announce the ongoing election process in community channels
  • Optional: Monitor community channels for community comments and questions

Volunteers should:

  • Maintain the friendly space policy during conversations and events
  • Present the guidelines and voting information to the community in a neutral manner

Do you want to be an election volunteer and ensure your community is represented in the vote? Sign up here to receive updates. You can use the talk page for questions about translation.

Report on Voter Feedback from Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) Enforcement Guidelines Ratification

Hello all,

The Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) project team has completed the analysis of the feedback accompanying the ratification vote on the Universal Code of Conduct Enforcement Guidelines.

Following the completion of the UCoC Enforcement Guidelines Draft in 2022, the guidelines were voted on by the Wikimedian community. Voters cast votes from 137 communities, with the top 9 communities being: English, German, French, Russian, Polish, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Italian Wikipedias, and Meta-wiki.

Those voting had the opportunity to provide comments on the contents of the Draft document. 658 participants left comments. 77% of the comments are written in English. Voters wrote comments in 24 languages with the largest numbers in English (508), German (34), Japanese (28), French (25), and Russian (12).

A report will be sent to the Revision Drafting Committee who will refine the enforcement guidelines based on the community feedback received from the recently concluded vote. A public version of the report is published on Meta-wiki here. The report is available in translated versions on Meta-wiki. Prašome padėti išversti į jūsų kalbą

Again, we thank all who participated in the vote and discussions. We invite everyone to contribute during the next community discussions. More information about the Universal Code of Conduct and Enforcement Guidelines can be found on Meta-wiki.

Revisions to the Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) Enforcement Guidelines

Hello all,

We'd like to provide an update on the work on the Enforcement Guidelines for the Universal Code of Conduct. After the conclusion of the community vote on the guidelines in March, the Community Affairs committee (CAC) of the Board asked that several areas of the guidelines be reviewed for improvements before the Board does its final review. These areas were identified based on community discussions and comments provided during the vote. The CAC also requested review of the controversial Note in 3.1 of the UCoC itself.

Once more, a big thank you to all who voted, especially to all who left constructive feedback and comments! The project team is working with the Board to establish a timeline for this work, and will communicate this next month.

Members of the two prior UCoC Drafting Committees have generously offered their time to help shape improvements to the Guidelines. You can read more about them and their work here, as well as read summaries of their weekly meetings in 2022.

Wikimedians have provided many valuable comments together with the vote and in other conversations. Given the size and diversity of the Wiki community, there are even more voices out there who can give ideas on how to improve the enforcement guidelines and add even more valuable ideas to the process. To help the Revisions committee identify improvements, input on several questions for the committee’s review is requested. Visit the Meta-wiki pages (Enforcement Guidelines revision discussions, Policy text revision discussions) to get your ideas to the Committee - it is very important that viewpoints are heard from different communities before the Committee begins drafting revision proposals.

Enabling Section Translation: a new mobile translation experience

Sveiki Lithuanian Wikipedians!

Apologies as this message is not in Lithuanian language, Prašome padėti išversti į jūsų kalbą.

The WMF Language team is pleased to let you know that we will like to enable the Section translation tool in Lithuanian Wiki Lietuvių. For this, our team will love you to read about the tool and test it so you can:

  • Give us your feedback
  • Ask us questions
  • Tell us how to improve it.

Below is background information about Section translation, why we have chosen your community, and how to test it.

Background information

Content Translation has been a successful tool for editors to create content in their language. More than one million articles have been created across all languages since the tool was released in 2015. The Wiki Foundation Language team has improved the translation experience further with the Section Translation. The WMF Language team enabled the early version of the tool in February in Bengali Wiki Lietuvių. Through their feedback, the tool was improved and ready for your community to test and help us with feedback to make it better.

Section Translation extends the capabilities of Content Translation to support mobile devices. On mobile, the tool will:

  • Guide you to translate one section at a time in order to expand existing articles or create new ones.
  • Make it easy to transfer knowledge across languages anytime from your mobile device.

Lithuanian Wikipedia seems an ideal candidate to enjoy this new tool since data shows significant mobile editing activity.

We plan to enable the tool on Lithuanian Wikipedia in the coming weeks if there are no objections from your community. After it is enabled, we’ll monitor the content created with the tool and process all the feedback. In any case, feel free to raise any concerns or questions you may already have in any of the following formats:

Try the tool

Before the enablement, you can try the current implementation of the tool in our testing instance. Once it is enabled on Lithuanian Wikipedia, you’ll have access to https://www.duhoctrungquoc.vn/wiki/lt/Special:ContentTranslation with your mobile device. You can select an article to translate, and machine translation will be provided as a starting point for editors to improve.

Provide feedback

Please provide feedback about Section translation in any of the formats you are most comfortable with. We want to hear about your impressions on:

  • The tool
  • What you think about our plans to enable it
  • Your ideas for improving the tool.

Thanks, and we look forward to your feedback and questions.

UOzurumba (WMF) (aptarimas) 08:56, 7 liepos 2022 (EEST) On behalf of the WMF Language team

PS: Sending your feedback or questions in English is particularly appreciated. But, you can still send them in the language of your choice.

Section Translation tool enabled in Lithuanian Wikipedia

Hello Friends!

The Language team is pleased to let you know that the Section Translation tool is now enabled in Lithuanian Wiki. It means you can translate real content one section at a time using your mobile devices with ease.

Now you can also start translating an article on your mobile device right when you notice it is missing in Lithuanian. From a Wikipedia article in any language, switch languages and search for lietuvių. If the article does not exist, an option to translate it will appear, as shown in the image below.

forumas
Image of the entry point

Content created with the tool will be marked with the “sectiontranslation” tag for the community to review. We’ll monitor the content created, but we are very interested in hearing about your experience using the tool and reviewing the content created with it.

So, enjoy the tool and provide feedback on improving it.

Thank you!

Propose statements for the 2022 Election Compass

Hi all,

Community members in the 2022 Board of Trustees election are invited to propose statements to use in the Election Compass.

An Election Compass is a tool to help voters select the candidates that best align with their beliefs and views. The community members will propose statements for the candidates to answer using a Lickert scale (agree/neutral/disagree). The candidates’ answers to the statements will be loaded into the Election Compass tool. Voters will use the tool by entering in their answer to the statements (agree/disagree/neutral). The results will show the candidates that best align with the voter’s beliefs and views.

Here is the timeline for the Election Compass:

  • July 8 - 20: Community members propose statements for the Election Compass
  • July 21 - 22: Elections Committee reviews statements for clarity and removes off-topic statements
  • July 23 - August 1: Volunteers vote on the statements
  • August 2 - 4: Elections Committee selects the top 15 statements
  • August 5 - 12: candidates align themselves with the statements
  • August 15: The Election Compass opens for voters to use to help guide their voting decision

The Elections Committee will select the top 15 statements at the beginning of August. The Elections Committee will oversee the process, supported by the Movement Strategy and Governance team. MSG will check that the questions are clear, there are no duplicates, no typos, and so on.

Best,

Movement Strategy and Governance

Hi everyone,

The Affiliate Representatives have completed their voting period. The selected 2022 Board of Trustees candidates are:

You may see more information about the Results and Statistics of this Board election.

The Affiliate organizations selected representatives to vote on behalf of the Affiliate organization. The Affiliate Representatives proposed questions for the candidates to answer in mid-June. These answers from candidates and the information provided from the Analysis Committee provided support for the representatives as they made their decision.

Please take a moment to appreciate the Affiliate Representatives and Analysis Committee members for taking part in this process and helping to grow the Board of Trustees in capacity and diversity. These hours of volunteer work connect us across understanding and perspective. Thank you for your participation.

Thank you to the community members who put themselves forward as candidates for the Board of Trustees. Considering joining the Board of Trustees is no small decision. The time and dedication candidates have shown to this point speaks to their commitment to this movement. Congratulations to those candidates who have been selected. A great amount of appreciation and gratitude for those candidates not selected. Please continue to share your leadership with Wikimedia.

Central and Easter Europe Meeting 2022

Hello!

Lithuanian community can send up to two representatives to a regional meeting in Ohrid, North Macedonia in mid-October. Travel and accommodation costs will be covered by the organizers.

As there is no formally established organization representing Lithuanian Wiki community, it would be enough to apply here in the forum and other community members could approve or object.

The prerequisites would be:

  1. Some past activity in Lithuanian Wiki projects
  2. Ability to communicate in English
  3. It is expected that you spend your time at the conference and report your experience back to the community.

From a personal experience I can suggest using this opportunity as it has been a motivational boost for my own activities in Wiki projects. Papuass (aptarimas) 15:20, 29 liepos 2022 (EEST)

Delay of the 2022 Wiki Foundation Board of Trustees election

Hi all,

I am reaching out to you today with an update about the timing of the voting for the Board of Trustees election.

As many of you are already aware, this year we are offering an Election Compass to help voters identify the alignment of candidates on some key topics. Several candidates requested an extension of the character limitation on their responses expanding on their positions, and the Elections Committee felt their reasoning was consistent with the goals of a fair and equitable election process.

To ensure that the longer statements can be translated in time for the election, the Elections Committee and Board Selection Task Force decided to delay the opening of the Board of Trustees election by one week - a time proposed as ideal by staff working to support the election.

Although it is not expected that everyone will want to use the Election Compass to inform their voting decision, the Elections Committee felt it was more appropriate to open the voting period with essential translations for community members across languages to use if they wish to make this important decision.

The voting will open on August 23 at 00:00 UTC and close on September 6 at 23:59 UTC.

Best regards,

Matanya, on behalf of the Elections Committee

Revised Enforcement Draft Guidelines for the Universal Code of Conduct

Hello everyone,

The Universal Code of Conduct Enforcement Guidelines Revisions committee is requesting comments regarding the Revised Enforcement Draft Guidelines for the Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC). This review period will be open from 8 September 2022 until 8 October 2022.

The Committee collaborated to revise these draft guidelines based on input gathered from the community discussion period from May through July, as well as the community vote that concluded in March 2022. The revisions are focused on the following four areas:

  1. To identify the type, purpose, and applicability of the UCoC training;
  2. To simplify the language for more accessible translation and comprehension by non-experts;
  3. To explore the concept of affirmation, including its pros and cons;
  4. To review the balancing of the privacy of the accuser and the accused

The Committee requests comments and suggestions about these revisions by 8 October 2022. From there, the Revisions Committee anticipates further revising the guidelines based on community input.

Find the Revised Guidelines on Meta, and a comparison page in some languages.

Everyone may share comments in a number of places. Facilitators welcome comments in any language on the Revised Enforcement Guidelines talk page. Comments can also be shared on talk pages of translations, at local discussions, or during conversation hours. There are a series of conversation hours planned about the Revised Enforcement Guidelines; please see Meta for the times and details.

The facilitation team supporting this review period hopes to reach a large number of communities. If you do not see a conversation happening in your community, please organize a discussion. Facilitators can assist you in setting up the conversations. Discussions will be summarized and presented to the drafting committee every two weeks. The summaries will be published here.

The Vector 2022 skin as the default in two weeks?

forumas
The slides for our presentation at Wikimania 2022

Hello. I'm writing on behalf of the Wiki Foundation Web team. In two weeks, we would like to make the Vector 2022 skin the default on this wiki.

We have been working on it for the past three years. So far, it has been the default on more than 30 wikis, including sister projects, all accounting for more than 1 billion pageviews per month. On average 87% of active logged-in users of those wikis use Vector 2022.

It would become the default for all logged-out users, and also all logged-in users who currently use Vector legacy. Logged-in users can at any time switch to any other skins. No changes are expected for users of these skins.

About the skin

[Why is a change necessary] The current default skin meets the needs of the readers and editors as these were 13 years ago. Since then, new users have begun using Wiki projects. The old Vector doesn't meet their needs.

[Objective] The objective for the new skin is to make the interface more welcoming and comfortable for readers and useful for advanced users. It draws inspiration from previous requests, the Community Wishlist Surveys, and gadgets and scripts. The work helped our code follow the standards and improve all other skins. We reduced PHP code in Wiki deployed skins by 75%. The project has also focused on making it easier to support gadgets and use APIs.

[Changes and test results] The skin introduces a series of changes that improve readability and usability. The new skin does not remove any functionality currently available on the Vector skin.

  • The sticky header makes it easier to find tools that editors use often. It decreases scrolling to the top of the page by 16%.
  • The new table of contents makes it easier to navigate to different sections. Readers and editors jumped to different sections of the page 50% more than with the old table of contents. It also looks a bit different on talk pages.
  • The new search bar is easier to find and makes it easier to find the correct search result from the list. This increased the amount of searches started by 30% on the wikis we tested on.
  • The skin does not negatively affect pageviews, edit rates, or account creation. There is evidence of increases in pageviews and account creation across partner communities.

[Try it out] Try out the new skin by going to the appearance tab in your preferences and selecting Vector 2022 from the list of skins.

How can editors change and customize this skin?

It's possible to configure and personalize our changes. We support volunteers who create new gadgets and user scripts. Check out our repository for a list of currently available customizations, or add your own.

Our plan

If no large concerns are raised, we plan on deploying in the week of October 3, 2022. If your community would like to request more time to discuss the changes, hit the button and write to us. We can adjust the calendar.

Also, if you'd like ask our team anything, if you have questions, concerns, or additional thoughts, please ping me here or write on the talk page of the project. We will also gladly answer! See our FAQ. Thank you! SGrabarczuk (WMF) (aptarimas) 06:14, 22 rugsėjo 2022 (EEST)

Permainos

Kaip kolegoms patinka? Paveikslėliai, koordinatės susigrūdo, infolentelės liko be rėmų. --Obivan Kenobi (aptarimas) 10:17, 25 spalio 2022 (EEST)

Permainos nelabai vykusios, mano galva.
Kita vertus, prievartinis pakeitimas tapo akstinu nusistatyti pas save MonoBook išvaizdą. Kiek joje daug telpa (našiau naudojamas brangus resursas, t.y. ekrano plotas), koks puikus readability + kraunasi daug greičiau. BigHead (aptarimas) 12:07, 31 spalio 2022 (EET)
Hi @Obivan Kenobi, you wrote "Paveikslėliai, koordinatės susigrūdo, infolentelės liko be rėmų.
    • "Paveikslėliai, koordinatės susigrūdo" - we have prepared an instruction how to fix that. The reason why the coordinates aren't placed correctly now is because on this wiki, not standard code is used for them. Several years ago, the page status indicator tag was created - this is the standard code for this kind of elements. If you use it here, the coordinates and other icons will be "future-proof", meaning, far less likely not to work with anything in the future.
    • "Infolentelės liko be rėmų" - could you point at a page where you can see this issue? It seems to me that the problem might be on the side of the local code rather than the skin itself, but I can't really tell or help until I see an example. Thank you!

forumas
Hi @SGrabarczuk (WMF). This is an example of how the random article looks in the new and old versions of the skin (please see the picture). As you can see, problems arise not only with the coordinates and the frame of the infobox, but also with the arrangement of the tables and in some articles with the images as well. Ok, maybe some problems are easy to solve, but adapting tens of thousands of articles to the new changes is beyond the power of such a small community. There are more problems with the new skin, mentioned above and below in the discussion, and my opinion is that such a radical change should require a community vote. --Obivan Kenobi (aptarimas) 10:33, 15 lapkričio 2022 (EET)
Hello @Obivan Kenobi, thank you for more details. Indeed, there are a few issues. I've addressed the coordinates part above; regarding the infobox, I just never know why the templates may work differently with Vector 2022. These should be two different things. Does the infobox in that article look good now when you look at it? For me, it looks like expected.
About the tables and images, and design of the articles overall - this is also a valid point. Nevertheless, as some technically-skilled Wikimedians point out, this has always been a problem for users of not-that-high-resolution devices, such as smaller desktop screens or tablets. Vector 2022 makes it more apparent. I don't have any solution in mind just yet, so I'll contact Wikipedians I've talked to about this problem. Soon I'll update you, I hope.

Hugo.arg (aptarimas) 10:42, 25 spalio 2022 (EEST)

Kaip ir būdinga šiems nupušimo laikams, pasirodo, kad susiaurinta todėl, kad kažkokie mokslininkai paskaičiavo, jog siauresnį tekstą lengviau skaityti, be to, paprasčiau vaikams ir "turintiems bėdų su rega". Žodžiu, dėl įsivaizduojamos mažumos kentės dauguma. Hugo.arg (aptarimas) 10:48, 25 spalio 2022 (EEST)
O to „prisijungti” ir man šiandien teko paieškoti. --Obivan Kenobi (aptarimas)

@SGrabarczuk (WMF): Does our community has any say whether to keep the Vector 2022 skin as the default on this wiki? --Homo ergaster (aptarimas) 13:34, 25 spalio 2022 (EEST)

Aš skaitytojas, man sena versija geresnė.

Sveiki! Greetings from Warsaw. First of all, I'm sorry for not writing in Lithuanian. Thanks for the comments in which you’re raising important points. Thanks to @Homo ergaster for pinging me. Before you did, I didn't know about your discussion. I wish we had talked sooner, because it was my intention to talk first, clarify the situation, and make the change when you as the Lithuanian community are more informed and comfortable. Anyway:

  1. We have been working on this project since 2019. You can see the timeline on our project page. The goal is to make the Wiki websites more intuitive and welcoming for content consumers and new contributors.
  2. My goal for this discussion here is to understand how the Web team could support you in adjusting your code to Vector 2022, and what should be improved in Vector 2022.
  3. Between 2020 and earlier this year, we were testing new features, one by one. There were many different tests. Some of those were performed on a diverse set of wikis. This is how we know that Vector 2022 is already better than Vector legacy. You can read about the tests here.
  4. Communities use different templates, gadgets, scripts, etc. It may happen that something needs to be fixed in collaboration with you. We are open to discuss what could be improved or fixed.
  5. I strongly encourage you to read our FAQ. You'll find answers to most really frequently asked questions. You'll also be able to check how much your first impressions and your intuition have in common with our data and approach.
  6. It's difficult for me to understand how you've come to some conclusions. In the following edits to some of your comments, I'll ask you to elaborate on your viewpoints. I hope we will clarify some things together.

Tas „Our goals are to make Wiki wikis more welcoming and to increase the utility amongst readers and maintain utility for existing editors.“ bent jau man skamba kiek naivokai. Labai abejoju.

Padaryti „Wiki wikis more welcoming“ (įtraukesnes) bandoma ir kitais būdais, pvz., pasiūlant naujokams vikizuoti netvarkingus straipsnius, pataisyti klaidas. Ir kas iš to išeina? Kad ir šis pakeitimas. --Homo ergaster (aptarimas) 23:18, 21 balandžio 2023 (EEST)
Nesu bailus, bet visuomet įtarimą kelia žmonės, kurie nori padaryti ką nors "more welcoming". Rezultatas beveik visuomet tas pats. Nuviliantis.
Nejučia prisiminiau visai kitą sritį, tačiau tokį požiūrį taikau ir kitoms gyvenimo sritims.
This is UNIX. Stop acting so helpless!

1. Homo ergaster (1 490 406)

2. Hugo.arg (1 303 694)

3. Dirgela (559 621)

4. Knutux (500 681)

5. Lazdynas (367 455)

6. Atlantas (348 733)

7. CD (312 516)

8. Algirdas (309 847)

9. Tocekas (278 878)

10. Creative (236 977)

Reitingas atnaujinamas kas mėnesį, paprastai iki kiekvieno mėnesio 5 dienos.

Man bus malonu matyti jus tarp reitingų vartotojų. UkrFace (aptarimas) 21:29, 3 spalio 2022 (EEST)

Ir štai tik vieno pastarojo mėnesio statistika (month by month):

  1. Homo ergaster 37 988
  2. Hugo.arg 16 280
  3. Ispanas 15 307
  4. Makenzis 8 611
  5. Viskonsas 7 223
  6. CD 5 252
  7. SeriousThinker 4 204
  8. Kails 3 707
  9. Ego desidero aquiuem 3 427
  10. Vaidila 3 381

Kurioje esu Makenzis ir aš ;). Manau čia įtraukti ir savi psl. peržiūrėjimai.--Vaidila (aptarimas) 10:58, 30 spalio 2022 (EET)

Neturiu supratimo, kokio čia mėnesio ir kokio tipo statistika. Ji man nieko nesako.

Be to, tarkim Gmail ar Youtube, kitos big tech paslaugos sulaukia tūkstantinių peržūrų ir kažkaip tame psl. mano indėlis neatsispindi, nors teko gerokai papildyti.--Vaidila (aptarimas) 11:14, 30 spalio 2022 (EET)

Congratulations, your postings allowed Wikipedia(lt.wikipedia.org) to receive 179 569 views for September 2022. And that is the 2.0160% of the overall number of views. If the contribution for only September is considered, then 3 381views. [10]

This service provides the opportunity for Wikipedia authors to evaluate their contribution to the promotion of the project, namely: to find out how many pages were viewed on Wikipedia within one month due to their contribution. Every contributor has access to two evaluations: Global Rating, which takes into account the entire contribution of the author since registration Local Rating, only the last month's contribution is used for calculation You can also view the Leaderboard on the site, on which the TOP-100 users according to the global estimation are deduced. And to make sure new contributors aren't put off — a month-by-month rating based on local ratings has been created. This allows to overlook the amount of time you have been on Wikipedia (several years or two months), you have the same starting point as experienced Wikipedists. What's important — is to add high-quality, meaningful and interesting content to the world's most popular and largest encyclopedia

Invitation to attend “Ask Me Anything about Movement Charter” Sessions

Hello all,

During the 2022 Wiki Summit, the Movement Charter Drafting Committee (MCDC) presented the first outline of the Movement Charter, giving a glimpse on the direction of its future work, and the Charter itself. The MCDC then integrated the initial feedback collected during the Summit. Before proceeding with writing the Charter for the whole Movement, the MCDC wants to interact with community members and gather feedback on the drafts of the three sections: Preamble, Values & Principles, and Roles & Responsibilities (intentions statement). The Movement Charter drafts will be available on the Meta page here on November 14, 2022. Community wide consultation period on MC will take place from November 20 to December 18, 2022. Learn more about it here.

With the goal of ensuring that people are well informed to fully participate in the conversations and are empowered to contribute their perspective on the Movement Charter, three “Ask Me Anything about Movement Charter" sessions have been scheduled in different time zones. Everyone in the Wiki Movement is invited to attend these conversations. The aim is to learn about Movement Charter - its goal, purpose, why it matters, and how it impacts your community. MCDC members will attend these sessions to answer your questions and hear community feedback.

The “Ask Me Anything” sessions accommodate communities from different time zones. Only the presentation of the session is recorded and shared afterwards, no recording of conversations. Below is the list of planned events:

  • Asia/Pacific: November 4, 2022 at 09:00 UTC (your local time). Interpretation is available in Chinese and Japanese.
  • Europe/MENA/Sub Saharan Africa: November 12, 2022 at 15:00 UTC (your local time). Interpretation is available in Arabic, French and Russian.
  • North and South America/ Western Europe: November 12, 2022 at 15:00 UTC (your local time). Interpretation is available in Spanish and Portuguese.

On the Meta page you will find more details; Zoom links will be shared 48 hours ahead of the call.

Call for Movement Charter Ambassadors

Individuals or groups from all communities who wish to help include and start conversations in their communities on the Movement Charter are encouraged to become Movement Charter Ambassadors (MC Ambassadors). MC Ambassadors will carry out their own activities and get financial support for enabling conversations in their own languages. Regional facilitators from the Movement Strategy and Governance team are available to support applicants with MC Ambassadors grantmaking. If you are interested please sign up here. Should you have specific questions, please reach out to the MSG team via email: [email protected] or on the MS forum.

We thank you for your time and participation.

Opportunities open for the Ombuds commission and the Case Review Committee

You can find this message translated into additional languages on Meta-wiki.

Daugiau kalbų • Prašome padėti išversti į jūsų kalbą

Hi everyone! The Ombuds commission (OC) and the Case Review Committee (CRC) are looking for members. People are encouraged to nominate themselves or encourage others they feel would contribute to these groups to do so. There is more information below about the opportunity and the skills that are needed.

About the Ombuds commission

The Ombuds commission (OC) works on all Wiki projects to investigate complaints about violations of the privacy policy, especially in use of CheckUser and Oversight (also known as Suppression) tools. The Commission mediates between the parties of the investigation and, when violations of the policies are identified, advises the Wiki Foundation on best handling. They may also assist the General Counsel, the Chief Executive Officer, or the Board of Trustees of the Foundation in these investigations when legally necessary. For more on the OC's duties and roles, see Ombuds commission on Meta-Wiki.

Volunteers serving in this role should be experienced Wikimedians, active on any project, who have previously used the CheckUser/Oversight tools OR who have the technical ability to understand these tools and the willingness to learn them. They must be able to communicate in English, the common language of the commission. They are expected to be able to engage neutrally in investigating these concerns and to know when to recuse when other roles and relationships may cause conflict. Commissioners will serve two-year terms (note that this is different from past years, when the terms have been for one year).

About the Case Review Committee

The Case Review Committee (CRC) reviews appeals of eligible Trust & Safety office actions. The CRC is a critical layer of oversight to ensure that Wiki Foundation office actions are fair and unbiased. They also make sure the Wiki Foundation doesn’t overstep established practices or boundaries. For more about the role, see Case Review Committee on Meta-Wiki.

We are looking for current or former functionaries and experienced volunteers with an interest in joining this group. Applicants must be fluent in English (additional languages are a strong plus) and willing to abide by the terms of the Committee charter. If the work resonates and you qualify, please apply. Committee members will serve two-year terms (note that this is different from past years, when the terms have been for one year).

Applying to join either of these groups

Members are required to sign the Confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information and must be willing to comply with the appropriate Wiki Foundation board policies (such as the access to non-public information policy and the Foundation privacy policy). These positions requires a high degree of discretion and trust. Members must also be over 18 years of age.

If you are interested in serving in either capacity listed above, please write in English to the Trust and Safety team at caforumas wikimedia.org (to apply to the OC) or to the Legal Team at legalforumas wikimedia.org (to apply to the CRC) with information about:

  • Your primary projects
  • Languages you speak/write
  • Any experience you have serving on committees, whether movement or non-movement
  • Your thoughts on what you could bring to the OC or CRC if appointed
  • Any experience you have with the Checkuser or Oversight tools (OC only)
  • Any other information you think is relevant

The deadline for applications is 31 December 2022 in any timezone.

Please feel free to pass this invitation along to any users who you think may be qualified and interested. Thank you!

On behalf of the Committee Support team,

Ydinga pati praktika. Ištrinsi straipsnį, studentas gal įskaitos negaus ar pan. Tiesiog nesąmonė. --Homo ergaster (aptarimas) 22:14, 11 gruodžio 2022 (EET)

Upcoming vote on the revised Enforcement Guidelines for the Universal Code of Conduct

Hello all,

In mid-January 2023, the Enforcement Guidelines for the Universal Code of Conduct will undergo a second community-wide ratification vote. This follows the March 2022 vote, which resulted in a majority of voters supporting the Enforcement Guidelines. During the vote, participants helped highlight important community concerns. The Board’s Community Affairs Committee requested that these areas of concern be reviewed.

The volunteer-led Revisions Committee worked hard reviewing community input and making changes. They updated areas of concern, such as training and affirmation requirements, privacy and transparency in the process, and readability and translatability of the document itself.

The revised Enforcement Guidelines can be viewed here, and a comparison of changes can be found here.

How to vote?

Beginning January 17, 2023, voting will be open. This page on Meta-wiki outlines information on how to vote using SecurePoll.

Who can vote?

The eligibility requirements for this vote are the same as for the Wiki Board of Trustees elections. See the voter information page for more details about voter eligibility. If you are an eligible voter, you can use your Wiki account to access the voting server.

What happens after the vote?

Votes will be scrutinized by an independent group of volunteers, and the results will be published on Wikimedia-l, the Movement Strategy Forum, Diff and on Meta-wiki. Voters will again be able to vote and share concerns they have about the guidelines. The Board of Trustees will look at the levels of support and concerns raised as they look at how the Enforcement Guidelines should be ratified or developed further.

Desktop improvements. A new change is coming!

forumas

(Sveiki! Prašome padėti išversti į jūsų kalbą)

Next week (the week of February 6), the Wiki Foundation Web team will move some links from the side menu ("sidebar") to a new menu on other side of the screen.

This will make it easier to intuitively use all the links and tools within our interface. The table of contents will also appear a bit higher up the screen because the sidebar will be shorter. The latter change would mostly be interesting for editors. This is because readers use the sidebar much more rarely.

Why we are changing this

The interface does not distinguish between the links and tools that are relevant to the website and the links and tools that are relevant to a single page. Main page, random page, recent changes, are in the first group. What links here, related changes, cite this page, belong to the second one. This mix is confusing to new readers. Also new editors are not familiar with what each link does. Mixing these groups makes it less likely for people to explore these tools naturally.

This change also addresses the concern for the location of the table of contents. Previously, some editors using an earlier version of Vector 2022 told us that because the table of contents appeared below the sidebar, it was placed too much down below the page. After this change, the sidebar will be shorter and thus will shift the table of contents further up in the page. Also, this change will reduce the white space on the page by using more of the space for the display of tools.

Gadgets' compatibility

Technically skilled editors may need to update some gadgets and user scripts. Some of these might become redundant or obsolete. We provide support for users who would like to maintain the compatibility. Please explore this section of our documentation for more information on gadget compatibility.

„To pasekoje“

Daugelyje Vikipedijos straipsnių pasitaiko netaisyklingas žodžių junginys „ko pasekoje“ arba „ko pasėkoje“ (žr. [13]). Straipsnyje „Elžbieta II“ puikavosi net toks „perliukas“: „Jos tėvas į sostą atėjo 1936 m., kai jo brolis karalius Eduardas VIII atsisakė būti karaliumi, to pasakoje Elžbieta tapo sosto įpėdine.“ Vertėtų po truputį išrankioti. --Homo ergaster (aptarimas) 19:23, 3 kovo 2023 (EET)

Apskritys

CD (aptarimas) 11:35, 12 kovo 2023 (EET)

  • Už vientisą straipsnį:
    • Jeigu straipsniai atskiri, tokiu atveju kiekvieno administracinio vieneto istorija yra išskaidoma, užuot aprašant ją nuosekliai. Be to, apsunkinamos nuorodos į atitinkamo laikotarpio straipsnius.

Lenkai išvis XVIII a. pabaigai atskirai apskritis aprašo. CD (aptarimas) 20:33, 12 kovo 2023 (EET)

Board of Trustees have ratified the UCoC Enforcement Guidelines

Hello all, an important update on the UCoC Enforcement Guidelines:

The vote on the Enforcement Guidelines in January 2023 showed a majority approval of the Enforcement Guidelines. There were 369 comments received and a detailed summary of the comments will be published shortly. Just over three-thousand (3097) voters voted and 76% approved of the Enforcement Guidelines. You can view the vote statistics on Meta-wiki.

As the support increased, this signifies to the Board that the current version has addressed some of the issues indicated during the last review in 2022. The Board of Trustees voted to ratify the Enforcement Guidelines. The resolution can be found on Foundation wiki and you can read more about the process behind the 2023 Enforcement Guidelines review on Diff.

There are some next steps to take with the important recommendations provided by the Enforcement Guidelines. More details will come soon about timelines. Thank you for your interest and participation.

(Ne)nueina užmarštin straipsniai be šaltinių

Prieš gerus pora metelių adminas Nomad parengė topines ataskaitėles:

Kokie rezultatai? --Vilensija (aptarimas) 14:43, 29 kovo 2023 (EEST)

Reiktų kritikos

Kolegos, neįprastas request'as. Būtų įdomu sužinoti, ko trūksta straipsniui Vytauto Didžiojo karo muziejus? Norėtųsi palaipsniui datraukt iki good, vėliau potencialiai -- iki featured.

      Pasakyta = padaryta, refresh.
Naudojant skaitmenines bylas, reikia nurodyti šiuos duomenis: autorius; eksponato pavadinimas; pirminės apskaitos numeris arba inventorinis numeris; muziejaus, kuris saugo eksponatą, pavadinimas; eksponato senas.limis.lt puslapio adresas.

MinT Machine Translation added to Lithuanian Wikipedia

Sveiki Lithuanian Wikipedians!

Apologies as this message is not in your language, ⧼Please help translate⧽ to your language.

The WMF Language team has added another machine translation (MT) system for Content Translation in your Wikipedia called MinT; you can use MinT machine translation when translating Wikipedia articles using the Content Translation tool.

The WMF Language team provides the MinT service. It is hosted in the Wiki Foundation Infrastructure with neural machine translation models that other organizations have released with an open-source license. MinT integrates translation based on NLLB-200 and OpusMT and will replace those as separate options.  This MT is set as optional in your Wiki Lietuvių. Still, you can choose not to use it by selecting "Start with empty paragraph" from the "Initial Translation" dropdown menu.

Since MinT is hosted in the WMF Infrastructure and the models are open source, it adheres to Wikipedia's policies about attribution of rights, your privacy as a user and brand representation. You can find more information about the MinT Machine translation and the models on this page.

Please note that the use of the MinT MT is not compulsory. However, we would want your community to:

  • use it to improve the quality of the Machine Translation service
  • provide feedback about the service and its quality, and ask questions about this addition.

We trust that introducing this MT is a good support to the Content Translation tool.

Thank you!

Thank you to all the community members who submitted their names for consideration. We look forward to working with the Elections Committee in the near future.

Norėčiau jūsų fydbeko

2023 m. NATO viršūnių susitikimas.

@Italas užkūrė, @Ispanas prisidėjo, aš truputį pasistengiau, @Bearas neliko abejingu ir t.t. Visų neišvardysi, t. y. jie yra History'e.

Įsitikinęs, kad tekstas atitinka featured. Savo nuomonę remiu tokiais argumentais:

  1. Vienetinis, baigtinis renginys.
    1. Kuris vyko pas mus, mūsų tekstas išsamiausias/profesionaliausias iš visų kitų vertimų. Lyginkit su kuo norit, mes prieky.
    2. Tačiau renginys aktualus tikrai ne vien mums, anaiptol -- užsieniui (iš reakcijos), ko gero, net svarbiau.

(angl. Objection, tar. obdžekšn!)

Ar tų, kurie galėtų mums padėti tobulėti -- KĄ DAR turėtume papildyti/pataisyti/aprašyti tekste?

Deploying the Phonos in-line audio player to your Wiki

Sveiki!

Apologies if this message is not in your language, ⧼Please help translate⧽ to your language.

This wiki will soon be able to use the inline audio player implemented by the Phonos extension. This is part of fulfilling a wishlist proposal of providing audio links that play on click.

With the inline audio player, you can add text-to-speech audio snippets to wiki pages by simply using a tag:

The above tag will show the text next to a speaker icon, and clicking on it will play the audio instantly without taking you to another page. A common example where you can use this feature is in adding pronunciation to words as illustrated on the English Wiktionary below.

{{audio|en|En-uk-English.oga|Audio (UK)}}

Could become:

The inline audio player will be available in your wiki in 2 weeks time; in the meantime, we would like you to read about the features and give us feedback or ask questions about it in this talk page.

Thank you!

Growth features for newcomers: configuration files deleted

Hello, my name is Kirsten Stoller and I work with the Wikipedia Foundation’s Growth team.  The Growth team develops features that help onboard new account holders and new editors.

Our team noticed that a lt.Wikipedia admin deleted the Community configuration files that help communities customize Growth features. (Here are the logs for the associated page, @Homo ergaster).

By deleting these files, some new account holders will have a broken onboarding experience.  For example, the newcomer homepage (Specialus:Homepage) will no longer work as expected.

We aren’t sure if this deletion was intentional or accidental. We want to respect your local community decisions, so we have temporarily disabled Growth team features while we discuss.  We want to know:

  • Should we re-enable the configuration files and Growth features?  Or were you attempting to remove some of the Growth features?
  • Should we provide more information about the importance of the configuration files? If so, where would this information be available?

We are happy to enable Growth features again if that is your preference, we just want to be sure the associated configuration page is available so new account holders aren’t receiving a broken experience.  Thank you! - KStoller-WMF (aptarimas) 22:10, 10 rugpjūčio 2023 (EEST)

Hello. It was done intentionally in order to disable Growth features. For example, we had some problems with newcomers trying to correct grammatical mistakes but instead making a bit of a mess. --Homo ergaster (aptarimas) 20:45, 13 rugpjūčio 2023 (EEST)
@Homo ergaster Thanks for the response! Sorry to hear that Newcomer tasks were causing a mess!
I know that the Copy edit task can be particularly challenging for newcomers. Was it mainly the "Copy edit" task that was leading to newcomer issues? Would you be interested in disabling just that particular task?
Or, if you are interested, a few members of the Growth team would be happy to meet with you and any other lt.wiki community members and discuss options to improve Growth's configuration files so they work better for lt.wikipedia. I can think of several improvements that might help reduce patroller burden, while still ensuring that new editors receive the onboarding and tools that help them get started editing. In multiple experiments, Growth features have been shown to help more new account holders start editing and even improve new editor retention (Newcomer_tasks/Experiment_analysis & Structured_tasks/Add_a_link).
Growth features are now standard across all language editions of Wikipedia, and we are about to release several improvements to Growth features that I think new editors on your wiki will benefit from. Here's a list of new features we hope to release to your wiki ASAP:
But new editors won't receive those features or access to the newcomer homepage or mentorship if we leave Growth features disabled. Please let me know if we should re-enable Growth features with certain tasks disabled, or if you want to meet to discuss how we can customize the Growth configuration files to work best for your community. Thanks! - KStoller-WMF (aptarimas) 17:48, 15 rugpjūčio 2023 (EEST)
@Homo ergaster, can you provide a few examples of newcomers creating mess? We'd like to investigate the case: the problem might be some users who aren't reading instructions. The cause might be that instructions aren't all translated. :) Trizek (WMF) (aptarimas) 17:30, 21 rugpjūčio 2023 (EEST)
Yes, it was mainly the "Copy edit" task that was leading to these issues, so I think we could give Growth features another go. While I wouldn't be particularly surprised if some newcomers weren't reading instructions, I think the biggest problem is that plenty of them simply weren't competent enough. They were doing they best to help but it was simply too much to handle. Well, even some of our old-timers struggle with grammar, so it is not that surprising. :) --Homo ergaster (aptarimas) 17:54, 21 rugpjūčio 2023 (EEST)
Great! The plan is: let's turn the features on again, but without the copy edit task.
Regarding newcomers, we shouldn't forget that Wikipedia is a complicated place for them. A lot of users won't try to edit, because they are afraid of doing things the wrong way. A few will try, but they might make some mistakes. It is important to have experienced people to guide and help them!
A possibility to help newcomers is the mentorship system Growth features provide. Each newcomers gets the name of a trusted user who can help them. Met me know if you are interested by this!

Review the Charter for the Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee

Hello all,

I am pleased to share the next step in the Universal Code of Conduct work. The Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C) draft charter is now ready for your review.

The Enforcement Guidelines require a Building Committee form to draft a charter that outlines procedures and details for a global committee to be called the Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C). Over the past few months, the U4C Building Committee worked together as a group to discuss and draft the U4C charter. The U4C Building Committee welcomes feedback about the draft charter now through 22 September 2023. After that date, the U4C Building Committee will revise the charter as needed and a community vote will open shortly afterward.

Join the conversation during the conversation hours or on Meta-wiki.

Coming soon: Reference Previews

forumas

A new feature is coming to your wiki soon: Reference Previews are popups for references. Such popups have existed on wikis as local gadgets for many years. Now there is a central solution, available on all wikis, and consistent with the PagePreviews feature.

Reference Previews will be visible to everyone, including readers. If you don’t want to see them, you can opt out. If you are using the gadgets Reference Tooltips or Navigation Popups, you won’t see Reference Previews unless you disable the gadget.

Reference Previews have been a beta feature on many wikis since 2019, and a default feature on some since 2021. Deployment is planned for November 22.

Do you use Wikidata in Wiki sibling projects? Tell us about your experiences

Note: Apologies for cross-posting and sending in English.

Hello, the Wikidata for Wiki Projects team at Wiki Deutschland would like to hear about your experiences using Wikidata in the sibling projects. If you are interested in sharing your opinion and insights, please consider signing up for an interview with us in this Registration form.
Currently, we are only able to conduct interviews in English.

The front page of the form has more details about what the conversation will be like, including how we would compensate you for your time.

For more information, visit our project issue page where you can also share your experiences in written form, without an interview.
We look forward to speaking with you, Danny Benjafield (WMDE) (talk) 08:53, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

Naudotojas „Zemant“

Hugo.arg (aptarimas) 13:49, 7 sausio 2024 (EET)

Reusing references: Can we look over your shoulder?

Apologies for writing in English.

The Technical Wishes team at Wiki Deutschland is planning to make reusing references easier. For our research, we are looking for wiki contributors willing to show us how they are interacting with references.

  • The format will be a 1-hour video call, where you would share your screen. More information here.
  • Interviews can be conducted in English, German or Dutch.
  • Compensation is available.
  • Sessions will be held in January and February.
  • Sign up here if you are interested.
  • Please note that we probably won’t be able to have sessions with everyone who is interested. Our UX researcher will try to create a good balance of wiki contributors, e.g. in terms of wiki experience, tech experience, editing preferences, gender, disability and more. If you’re a fit, she will reach out to you to schedule an appointment.

We’re looking forward to seeing you, Thereza Mengs (WMDE)

Typography and text improvements now available as a beta feature

forumas
The new menu in the un-pinned version, next to the user name

Labas, linkėjimai iš Varšuvos! I'm writing to you because I remember that some of you were interested in following technical changes more closely.

The Web team from the Wiki Foundation has launched a new beta feature to improve readability. The feature is only available to logged-in editors using the Vector 2022 skin. To try it out, go to the "beta" option in the user menu and select "Accessibility for Reading (Vector 2022)". You may also enable it on all wikis using the global preferences. To learn more about the Accessibility for Reading project, check out the project page.

In the new menu (starting this week, it's "Appearance", not "Theme"; it's not yet translated into Lithuanian), there are three text settings – small, standard, and large. Small is the current default. Large is for users who need additional increase in size. The standard setting may later become the new default. This was recommended by both the literature research and prototype testing.

To this menu, we have also added the page width setting. Before, it was available in the bottom corner of the screen (forumas ), and now it's easier to find. The menu is pin-able in a similar way to the Tools and Main menus, both placed in the side columns of the desktop interface. When it's not pinned, it's displayed next to the user name.

We welcome you all to try the new menu. We will collect your ideas and comments to make this feature better. Please, if you have the time, check it out and give us your thoughts! I'm also curious if you have any questions or ideas. Ačiū.

(PS If you'd like to translate the Vector interface into Lithuanian, here's is the link.) SGrabarczuk (WMF) (aptarimas) 21:31, 12 sausio 2024 (EET)

Feminism and Folklore 2024

forumas
Prašome padėti išversti į jūsų kalbą

Dear Wiki Community,

You are humbly invited to organize the Feminism and Folklore 2024 writing competition from February 1, 2024, to March 31, 2024 on your local Wiki Lietuvių. This year, Feminism and Folklore will focus on feminism, women's issues, and gender-focused topics for the project, with a Wiki Loves Folklore gender gap focus and a folk culture theme on Wiki Lietuvių.

You can help Wikipedia's coverage of folklore from your area by writing or improving articles about things like folk festivals, folk dances, folk music, women and queer folklore figures, folk game athletes, women in mythology, women warriors in folklore, witches and witch hunting, fairy tales, and more. Users can help create new articles, expand or translate from a generated list of suggested articles.

Organisers are requested to work on the following action items to sign up their communities for the project:

  1. Create a page for the contest on the local wiki.
  2. Set up a campaign on CampWiz tool.
  3. Create the local list and mention the timeline and local and international prizes.
  4. Request local admins for site notice.
  5. Link the local page and the CampWiz link on the meta project page.

This year, the Wiki Loves Folklore Tech Team has introduced two new tools to enhance support for the campaign. These tools include the Article List Generator by Topic and CampWiz. The Article List Generator by Topic enables users to identify articles on the English Wikipedia that are not present in their native language Wiki Lietuvių. Users can customize their selection criteria, and the tool will present a table showcasing the missing articles along with suggested titles. Additionally, users have the option to download the list in both CSV and wikitable table-responsive formats. Notably, the CampWiz tool will be employed for the project for the first time, empowering users to effectively host the project with a jury. Both tools are now available for use in the campaign. Click here to access these tools

Learn more about the contest and prizes on our project page. Feel free to contact us on our meta talk page or by email us if you need any assistance.

We look forward to your immense coordination.

Thank you and Best wishes,

Feminism and Folklore 2024 International Team

IMPORTANT: Admin activity review

Hello. A policy regarding the removal of "advanced rights" (administrator, bureaucrat, interface administrator, etc.) was adopted by global community consensus in 2013. According to this policy, the stewards are reviewing administrators' activity on all Wiki Foundation wikis with no inactivity policy. To the best of our knowledge, your wiki does not have a formal process for removing "advanced rights" from inactive accounts. This means that the stewards will take care of this according to the admin activity review.

We have determined that the following users meet the inactivity criteria (no edits and no logged actions for more than 2 years):

  1. JonasS (administrator)

These users will receive a notification soon, asking them to start a community discussion if they want to retain some or all of their rights. If the users do not respond, then their advanced rights will be removed by the stewards.

However, if you as a community would like to create your own activity review process superseding the global one, want to make another decision about these inactive rights holders, or already have a policy that we missed, then please notify the stewards on Meta-Wiki so that we know not to proceed with the rights review on your wiki.

Thanks, Superpes15 (aptarimas) 20:26, 7 vasario 2024 (EET)

Report of the U4C Charter ratification and U4C Call for Candidates now available

Hello all,

I am writing to you today with two important pieces of information. First, the report of the comments from the Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C) Charter ratification is now available. Secondly, the call for candidates for the U4C is open now through April 1, 2024.

Community members are invited to submit their applications for the U4C. For more information and the responsibilities of the U4C, please review the U4C Charter.

Per the charter, there are 16 seats on the U4C: eight community-at-large seats and eight regional seats to ensure the U4C represents the diversity of the movement.

Wiki Foundation Board of Trustees 2024 Selection

Dear all,

This year, the term of 4 (four) Community- and Affiliate-selected Trustees on the Wiki Foundation Board of Trustees will come to an end [1]. The Board invites the whole movement to participate in this year’s selection process and vote to fill those seats.

The Elections Committee will oversee this process with support from Foundation staff [2]. The Board Governance Committee created a Board Selection Working Group from Trustees who cannot be candidates in the 2024 community- and affiliate-selected trustee selection process composed of Dariusz Jemielniak, Nataliia Tymkiv, Esra'a Al Shafei, Kathy Collins, and Shani Evenstein Sigalov [3]. The group is tasked with providing Board oversight for the 2024 trustee selection process, and for keeping the Board informed. More details on the roles of the Elections Committee, Board, and staff are here [4].

Here are the key planned dates:

  • May 2024: Call for candidates and call for questions
  • June 2024: Affiliates vote to shortlist 12 candidates (no shortlisting if 15 or less candidates apply) [5]
  • June-August 2024: Campaign period
  • End of August / beginning of September 2024: Two-week community voting period
  • October–November 2024: Background check of selected candidates
  • Board's Meeting in December 2024: New trustees seated

Learn more about the 2024 selection process - including the detailed timeline, the candidacy process, the campaign rules, and the voter eligibility criteria - on this Meta-wiki page, and make your plan.

Election Volunteers

Another way to be involved with the 2024 selection process is to be an Election Volunteer. Election Volunteers are a bridge between the Elections Committee and their respective community. They help ensure their community is represented and mobilize them to vote. Learn more about the program and how to join on this Meta-wiki page.

Best regards,

Dariusz Jemielniak (Governance Committee Chair, Board Selection Working Group)

[5] Even though the ideal number is 12 candidates for 4 open seats, the shortlisting process will be triggered if there are more than 15 candidates because the 1-3 candidates that are removed might feel ostracized and it would be a lot of work for affiliates to carry out the shortlisting process to only eliminate 1-3 candidates from the candidate list.
