Description
English: "Prince Diponegoro / Pangeran Dipanagara; Inscriptions in Malay (rumi). On top of the drawing: 'Pangeran Dipanagara lagie ber damai /Boewat Merangan /orang koempeni' (Pangeran Dipanagara lagi berdamai buat merangan orang kompeni [i.e. the Dutch].

Inscription on the right side: 'Ratoe /kantjananongo[?]'. Inscription on the left side: 'Pangeran /Ali Bassah'. Arabic islamic inscriptions in Dipanagara's hand: 'Muhammad Ra/sul Allah /alah wa Rabb wa yab'; in front of Pangeran Ali Bassah: 'Allah Rabb /Muhammad'.

Inscription in Dutch on the reverse of the drawing: ‘gevonden ten huize van Ba. Naip’ [in Bandung, c. 1892]." Water colour and oxidised silver on European paper. Provenance:Collection Snouck Hurgronje (Legacy 1936). Leiden University Library (The Netherlands), Oriental Collections, Or. 7398: 2
