| Description |
English: The Sun Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the solar deity Surya located at Modhera village of Mehsana district, Gujarat, India. It is situated on the bank of the river Pushpavati. It was built after 1026-27 CE during the reign of Bhima I of the Chaulukya dynasty. No worship is offered now and is protected monument maintained by Archaeological Survey of India. The temple complex has three components: Gudhamandapa, the shrine hall; Sabhamandapa, the assembly hall and Kunda, the reservoir. The halls have intricately carved exterior and pillars. The reservoir has steps to reach bottom and numerous small shrines.
ગુજરાતી: સૂર્યમંદિર, મોઢેરા ગુજરાત રાજ્યના ઉત્તર ભાગમાં આવેલા પાટણ શહેરથી આશરે ૩૦ કિલોમીટર જેટલા અંતરે દક્ષિણ દિશામાં આવેલા મોઢેરા ગામ ખાતે આવેલું જગવિખ્યાત ભવ્ય પ્રાચીન સૂર્ય મંદિર સંકુલ છે. આ સૂર્યમંદિર સ્થાપત્ય કળા તેમજ શિલ્પકામનો અજોડ નમૂનો પ્રસ્તુત કરે છે. ઈ. સ. ૧૦૨૬માં સોલંકી વંશના રાજા ભીમદેવ સોલંકી દ્વારા આ મંદિરના નિર્માણ કરાવવામાં આવ્યું હતું. |
