فارسی: مدافعان حرم عنوان مصطلح جمهوری اسلامی ایران برای عده‌ای از نیروهای نظامی است که توسط جمهوری اسلامی سازماندهی و به کشور سوریه اعزام می‌شوند و به گروه‌های همفکر در این کشور برای جنگ داخلی سوریه کمک مستشاری، تجهیزاتی و عملیاتی می‌کنند بیشتر افراد این گروه را نیروهای رسمی سپاه پاسداران، بسیج و گاهی ارتش جمهوری اسلامی ایران تشکیل می‌دهند که اکثر کشته‌های ایرانی نیز از این سه نهاد نظامی ایران هستند.
العربية: مدافعي الحرم أو «حراس الحرم» أو المدافعون عن العتبات المقدسة، هي عبارة تستخدمها الحكومة الإيرانية للإشارة إلى مستشاريها وأفرادها العسكريين سواء أكانوا إيرانيين أم غير ذلك الذين يقاتلون في العراق وسوريا دفاعًا عن الأضرحة المقدسة وحماية أتباع الطائفة الشيعية. يعتبر مسجد السيدة زينب في دمشق من أبرز المزارات المرتبطة برسالة "المدافعين عن العتبات المقدسة" والتي يكرس لها وجودهم في سوريا ظاهريًا.
English: Holy Shrine Defenders, known in Persian as Modāfe'ān-e-Haram, is a phrase used by the Iranian government to refer to their advisers and military personnel, whether Iranians or otherwise, fighting in Iraq and Syria in defense and protection of Shia peoples and holy shrines often targeted by Sunni fighters. The most prominent shrine associated with the mission of the "holy shrine defenders," and to which their presence in Syria is ostensibly dedicated, is the Sayyidah Zaynab Mosque in Damascus.
