Français : Drapeau de l'Espagne sous Joseph Bonaparte. Enfin Joseph Bonaparte a, en 1808, changé ses armoiries et créé un nouveau drapeau : retour au blanc pour le fond, dessus, un écu divisé en six avec les armes de la Castille, du Leon, de l’Aragon, de la Navarre, de Grenade et des possessions américaines, avec par dessus encore l’aigle de la famille impériale.
Español: Desde su creación la Bandera nacional ha sufrido una serie de modificaciones tales como: Por Decreto de 12 de julio de 1808, dado en Vitoria, el autotitulado José I modifica la heráldica y lo que hace es sobre un paño blanco, utiliza sus armas, compaginándolas con las propias de los reinos de España. » "Durante el efímero reinado de José Napoleón I se mantuvo el color blanco, alterándose sólo la composición del escudo según Real Decreto de 12 de julio de 1808. Las armas de la Corona en adelante constarían de un escudo dividido en seis cuarteles, el primero de los cuales sería el de Castilla, el segundo el de León, el tercero el de Aragón, el cuarto del de Navarra, el quinto el de Granada y el sexto el de las Indias (primera vez que figura en un escudo oficial), representado éste, según la antigua costumbre, por los dos globos y dos columnas, y en el centro de todos éstos se sobrepondría por escudete el águila de la familia imperial; esto, como es natural, sólo afectó a sus seguidores: podemos citar a don Cesárea Fernández Duro, que en Armada Española (tomo IX, cap I, pág. 9), refiriéndose a los partidarios de José Napoleón, dice: " No consiguieron tener un solo bajel de guerra en que arbolar la nueva bandera de su soberanía "."
