WhatsApp is an App.
WhatsApp (also called WhatsApp Messenger) is a freeware, cross-platform, centralized instant messaging (IM) and voice-over-IP (VoIP) service App owned by United States tech conglomerate Meta Platforms.
This becomes more specific. If you are on the internet, and you read the Wikipedia, you know what an app is. The word "App" should be considered common tongue.
The different, internet based, service-categories, that do exist today, are already confusing enough. We have stuff like serverless servers (https://www.google.com/search?q=serverless) and command line apps (https://charm.sh/). WhatsApp is clearly an App (it says so in the name). WhatsApp can be installed on some platforms with a terminal like `winget.exe install whatsapp.whatsapp` on Windows. But mostly WhatsApp is pulled from an App-store. I am also quite sure that the web version of WhatsApp will be replaced with a Progressive Web App in the foreseeable future, which is another App distribution format. There has been reports of a meme called "whatsappborea", which mirrors Nazism to WhatsApp, replacing many Nazi symbolism and terminology with WhatsApp, while labeling FaceBook Messenger as "cabel". The hashtag has since been removed by TikTok.

Since the editnotice is template-protected and the talk page redirects here, would it be possible to add a message about not posting private information to the talk page? A lot of people somehow mistake this for customer support and end up posting their own phone numbers (or sometimes emails) there. ChaotıċEnby(t · c) 18:58, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
@ASpacemanFalls, this article is about Whatsapp not about TokTok? The content is irrelevant. ☆SuperNinja2☆ TALK! 04:32, 8 April 2024 (UTC)
