Origin
The Mir surname, originating from medieval Persia, is a surname found pretty commonly amongst Kashmiri Muslims. Its roots can be traced back to the migration of individuals from Persia to Kashmir in 14th century, accompanying Mir Syed Ali Hamadani during the rule of Shahmir dynasty in Kashmir. These members were his devoted disciples and were Persian Artisan contributing to the religious fabric, Persianization and Islamisation of Kashmir.
