Pasifae Spatial coverage: Museo Civico di Palazzo Te, Viale Te, 13 - Mantova (MN), Italia - proprietà Comune di Mantova Size: altezza: cm 209 larghezza: cm 252 Format: affresco finito a secco La scena, dipinta sopra la seconda finestra della parete orientale, mostra Pasifae mentre entra nella giovenca di legno costruita per lei da Dedalo, al fine di potersi congiungere con il toro raffigurati in basso a destra. Attorno all'affresco è una cornice embricata con foglie d'acanto angolari. Le figure si inseriscono in questa cornice in maniera tridimensionale: la coda della giovenca, infatti, vi si sovrappone. L'affresco è stato eseguito su dieci stesure di intonaco (giornate). Per quanto concerne le tecniche di riporto del disegno si riscontra la sola presenza di spolvero, particolarmente evidente nelle zampe della giovenca. In nessun dettaglio dell'affresco interno sono riscontrabili incisioni dirette o da cartone. Il motivo a scaglie della cornice embricata è realizzato con incisioni dirette da compasso, di cui è possibile riconoscere il punto dei fori. Anche le foglie d'acanto angolari sono incise direttamente. Subfloresenze ed efflorescenze saline intaccano la superficie, causando cadute e sollevamenti della pellicola pittorica e cadute. Fra le aree più danneggiate sono il viso, il braccio e il panneggio sulle gambe di Pasifae, le terga della giovenca, la spalla di Dedalo, la porzione centrale superiore e l'angolo inferiore destro della cornice. La parte inferiore della cornice presenta un'alterazione cromatica a "macchia di leopardo". |
