Drag Race France is the ninth international adaptation of the American reality competition series RuPaul's Drag Race, following Chilean, Thai, British, Canadian, Dutch, Australian and New Zealand, Spanish, and Italian versions. It has been followed by Filipino, Belgian, Swedish, Mexican, Brazilian and German iterations.
Drag Race France debuted on June 25, 2022, on France.tv Slash. Episodes premiere on a weekly basis every Thursday and also stream simultaneously on France.tv catch-up service and on Salto, and later aired on France 2 every Saturday night. The series debuted simultaneously on Crave in Canada, and on WOW Presents Plus internationally.
Paloma won the first season, with La Grande Dame and Soa de Muse as runners-up, while Elips was named Miss Congeniality. In August 2022, the series was renewed for a second season. Keiona won the second season.
The competition series is hosted and judged primarily by French drag queen, Nicky Doll, who competed in the twelfth season of RuPaul's Drag Race. French television presenter Daphné Bürki and dancer Kiddy Smile, made appearances as the competition's prominent judges.

In November 2021, the production company for RuPaul's Drag Race confirmed that a French adaptation is in the works with casting calls. In early March 2022, it was announced that French drag queen Nicky Doll, will host the French adaptation.
In June 2022, Entertainment Weekly revealed the first ten contestants for its first season. The first season of Drag Race France began airing on 25 June 2022, on France.tv Slash in France and World of Wonder's streaming service WOW Presents Plus internationally. The season ran for 8 episodes and concluded on 11 August 2022. La Grande Dame and Soa de Muse made the final, and Paloma was the winner of the first season.
In October 2022, it was announced that France Télévisions renewed the series for a second season. A trailer for the second season was posted via social media on 10 June 2023. Eleven contestants were announced on 1 June 2023. It premiered on 30 June 2023.
