Description
  • English: Alexander the Great wearing a lion skin, a frequent attribute on monetary portraits alluding to Herakles, his mythical ancestor; inscribed letters on the face are later additions. Pentelic marble, ca. 300 BC. Found in Kerameikon, Athens. National Archaeological Museum in Athens, 366.
  • Español: Cabeza de Alejandro Magno. Encontrada en el Cerámico (Atenas). Alejandro llevando la piel de un león, una característica iconográfica común en las representaciones del joven rey, que indica su descendencia del héroe mítico Heracles. Las letras sobre la cara de Alejandro fueron grabadas en un período posterior. Aproximadamente del 300 a. C. Museo Arqueológico Nacional de Atenas. Nº 366 del Catálogo
  • Français : Tête d'Alexandre le Grand en marbre pentélique, trouvée au Céramique à Athènes. Alexandre porte une peau de lion, attribut commun sur ses portraits monétaires qui fait allusion à son ascendance mythique, le héros Héraclès. Les lettres sur le visage d'Alexandre sont postérieures. Vers 300 a. C. Musée archéologique national, Athènes, n°366.

Alessandro indossa come copricapo una pelle di leone, attributo che allude al suo mitico antenato divino, Eracle. Le lettere graffite sul volto per deturparlo sono di epoca posteriore.
