Ignatz Award: Jährliche Auszeichnung im Bereich Comic und Cartoons

Der Ignatz Award ist eine seit 1997 jährlich verliehene Auszeichnung, mit der außerordentliche Leistungen durch alternative Zeichner, Autoren und Verlage im Bereich der Comics der Cartoons gewürdigt werden.

Er ist nach einer Figur namens Ignatz aus dem Cartoon-Klassiker Krazy Kat von George Herriman benannt. Die Preisträger werden von den Teilnehmern der Small Press Expo (SPX) bestimmt, einer alternativen Fan-Convention, die jeden September oder Oktober in Bethesda, Maryland nahe Washington, D.C. stattfindet. 2001 wurde die SPX und damit auch der Ignatz Award wegen der Anschläge des 11. September 2001 ausgesetzt. Die Kandidaten für den Preis werden von einer fünfköpfigen Jury von Experten und Hauptberuflichen aus der Comic-Fachwelt nominiert.
