Deutsch: Die Kauffmann-Orgel auf der Westempore des Stephansdoms in der österreichischen Bundeshauptstadt Wien.
Die Orgel mit 3 Brüstungspositive wurde von 1956 bis 1960 von Johann M. Kauffmann errichtet und am 2. Oktober 1960 geweiht. Mit 125 Register auf vier Manualen und Pedal sowie mit insgesamt rund 10.000 Pfeifen ist sie die größte Orgel, die jemals in Österreich errichtet wurde, und bis heute das größte Musikinstrument der Republik. Nachdem die neue Domorgel (Rieger-Orgel) mit 55 Register auf 4 Manualen im Chor des südlichen Seitenschiffes (nahe der Vierung) 1991 in Betrieb genommen wurde, erfolgte die Stilllegung der Kauffmann-Orgel. Ab 2017 wurde die Orgel durch Rieger Orgelbau teilweise erneuert sowie auf 5 Manuale und 130 Register erweitert. Am 4. Oktober 2020 wurde sie im Beisein von Bundespräsident Alexander Van der Bellen vom Wiener Erzbischof Kardinal Christoph Schönborn gesegnet und bei der anschließenden Festmesse erklang die restaurierte Riesenorgel erstmals im Gottesdienst mit der Messe „Salve Regina“ des französischen Komponisten Yves Castagnet: [1]. |
