Description
Deutsch: Das Bahnhofsgebäude im Weinbrenner-Stil von einem Schüler des berühmten Architekten entworfen, wurde 1867/68 erbaut. Der badische Großherzog Friedrich I. hatte großen Wert darauf gelegt, dass alle Bahnhöfe und Amtsgebäude Badens in diesem einheitlichen Baustil mit klassizistischen Elementen errichtet wurden. Der Bahnreisende sollte bei Ankunft gleich erkennen: Ich bin jetzt im Großherzogtum Baden. Auch wurde in allen Wartehallen der Bahnhöfe einzig das badische Rothaus-Bier ausgeschenkt. Die Bahnstrecke wurde erstmalig am 19. Juni 1868 (Meckesheim-Rappenau) befahren.
