Description
Deutsch: Die Gemeinsame Normdatei (GND) enthält Datensätze für Personen, Familien, Körperschaften, Konferenzen, Gebietskörperschaften bzw. Geografika, Sachbegriffe und Werktitel, die vor allem zur Katalogisierung von Literatur in Bibliotheken dient, zunehmend aber auch von Archiven, Museen, Projekten und in Web-Anwendungen genutzt wird. Die GND wird kooperativ geführt und an der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek (DNB) gehalten.
English: The Integrated Authority File (German: Gemeinsame Normdatei; also known as the Universal Authority File) or GND is an international authority file for the organisation of personal names, subject headings and corporate bodies from catalogues. It is used mainly for documentation in libraries and increasingly also by archives and museums.
