Deutsch: Eine Gasentladungsröhre, wie sie Thomson zum Elektronennachweis benutzte. Er verwendete sowohl Röhren, in denen die Kathodenstrahlen magnetisch abgelenkt wurden, wie auch solche wie hier gezeigt, in denen die Elektronen elektrisch abgelenkt wurden. Die hier gezeigte Kathodenstrahlröhre ist ein Nachbau im Cavendish-Laboratory der Universität Cambridge.

He used tubes in which the cathode rays were deflected magnetically as well as those, as shown here, in which the electrons were deflected electrically.
