Пророк Даниил во рву львином. Боковая дверь иконостаса

Дерево, левкас, темпера. 170х61 см.

В вытянутый по вертикали формат искусно вписан основной сюжет, дополненный эпизодом посещения Даниила пророком Аввакумом.

Композицию завершает образ Христа Эммануила в небесах. Изображения Даниила во рву львином были характерны для боковых дверей русских иконостасов XVI- XVII веков. В настоящее время подобные произведения являются редкостью. Икона исполнена в легкой, свободной манере; с особым изяществом нарисованы фигура Даниила и как бы взбегающие к небу горки. Творческая свобода иконописца в обращении с художественным наследием рубежа XVI- XVII веков свидетельствует о хронологической близости памятника этому периоду. Икона может быть датирована первой третью XVII в. Ее локализация затруднительна. Редкость и художественные достоинства памятника делают его ценностью музейного значения.
