Object history
Deutsch: Schon im Stadtsiegel von 1240 findet man diese Darstellung. Die älteste Wappenansicht, ohne Farben, stammt von 1492. Im 16. Jh. erschien ein gevierter Schild, der im 1. und 4. Feld das Wappenbild, im 2. und 3. Feld eine fünfblättrige Rose zeigte. Magdeburg hat ein redendes Wappen, in dem die Teile des Stadtnamens bildlich dargestellt sind.
