फुटनोट मार्कर बनावे खातिर सबसे पहिले लेख के लाइन में ऊ जगह निश्चित करीं जहाँ एकरा के जोड़ल चाहत होखीं। एकरा बाद ऊहाँ आपन संदर्भ या टिप्पणी के ... टैग के बीच में लिखीं। उदाहरण खातिर:

टेम्पलेट {{reflist}} के प्रयोग अगिला खंड में नीचे बतावल जाई।

जौन भी चीज ... के बीच में लिखल होखी ऊ फुटनोट के रूप में जुड़ जाई। एह तरह से कहीं भी लेख में फुटनोट जोड़ल जा सकत बाटे। हाँ, टैगवन के बीच में अगर कुछ ना लिखल रही तब खराबी (error) देखाई।

आमतौर पर लाइन के अंत में पूर्ण बिराम के ठीक बाद फुटनोट मार्कर रखल जाला:

URLs must begin with a supported URI scheme. http:// and https:// will be supported by all browsers; however, ftp://, gopher://, irc://, ircs://, mailto: and news: will require a plug-in or an external application and should normally be avoided. IPv6 host-names are currently not supported.

• देवनागरी लिपि में नाँव दिहले पर भी हमेशा कोटेशन मार्क के भीतर रखे के परी।
• कोटेशन मार्क उहे होखे जवन कीबोर्ड से टाइप होला ("); टेढ़का भा अउरी कौनों के नाँव के हिस्सा के रूप में पढ़ लिहल जाई
• कोटेशन मार्क के भीतर लिखल नाँव में लेस देन के निशान (<) या खुद कोटेशन मार्क (") ना होखे के चाहीं नाहीं त ई गलत तरीका से पढ़ लिहल जाई < आ ", के तरे।
• भरसक कोसिस करीं की नाँव आसन होखे, छोट होखे आ अक्षर आ अंक से बनल होखे।

आमतौर पर ई सलाह दिहल जाला की संदर्भ के नाँव अइसन दीं जौना के संदर्भ से कुछ संबंध होखे। उदाहरण खातिर लेखक के नाँव के कौनों हिस्सा आ प्रकाशन के साल के नाँव के रूप में इस्तेमाल कइल जा सकेला।

ढेर जानकारी अंग्रेजी में Help:List-defined references पर देखल जाय। लेख के बीच में या इन्फोबोक्स के बीच में संदर्भ परिभाषित करे की बजाय इन्हन के संदर्भ के लिस्टवे की भीतर भी परिभाषित कइल जा सकेला आ लेख के अंदर जहाँ जोड़े के होखे नाँव से काल कइल जा सकेला। एकर सिंटेक्स होला:

कबो-कबो कौनों नोट या टिप्पणी जवन फुटनोट के रूप में होखे ओही में संदर्भ देवे के जरूरत भी पड़ सकेला। समस्या ई बा कि ... के कौनों दुसरा ... के अंदर रखले पर सिस्टम खराबी बतावे ला।

एकरे खातिर {{refn}} के प्रयोग कइल जाला। तरीका बा:

{{refn|name=नाँव|group=ग्रुप|content}} जहाँ नाँव आ ग्रुप बैकल्पिक बाटे। सामग्री में के प्रयोग हो सकत बाटे।

नीचे पहिले से परिभाषित ग्रुप में कई गो टेम्पलेट दिहल जात बा जवन {{refn}} के ही अलग-अलग रूप हवे।

There are several predefined groups that can have a styled reference list such that the footnote labels match between the footnote marker and the footnote in the reference list. These predefined groups and reference lists have templates that make the markup simpler and also allow a standard reference to be inserted, so that an explanatory note can have a reference.
