Sir Thomas Maclear (17 Maart 1794 – 14 Julie 1879) was 'n sterrekundige aan die Kaap die Goeie Hoop.
Hy is in 1834 by die Koninklike Sterrewag aldaar aangestel, wat hy oor die volgende 36 jaar tot 'n groot instelling uitgebrei het. Benewens astronomie het hy belangstelling in Afrika-verkenning getoon, en het David Livingstone in 1852 opgelei om breedte- en lengtegraadlesings te neem en die waarnemings van sy kruiskontinentale ekspedisie daarvolgens te orden. Livingstone het dit oorweeg om sy Missionary Travels aan Maclear en Roderick Murchison op te dra uit dankbaarheid vir hul onderskeie bydraes tot sy reise.
