Ruth First (1925–1982) was 'n Suid-Afrikaanse skrywer en anti-apartheidsaktivis.
Sy was die vrou van die Kommuniste partyleier Joe Slovo. Sy en haar man het gehelp om die SAKP se ondergrondse strukture te vestig en die gewapende stryd teen die Suid-Afrikaanse Regering te reël.

First is op 4 Mei 1925 in Johannesburg gebore. Op 17 Augustus 1982 is sy deur 'n briefbom wat deur die SAP aan haar man gestuur is gedood. Williamson het later amnestie hiervoor van die Waarheid-en-versoeningskommissie ontvang.
Die Orde van Luthuli (goud) is in 2014 postuum aan haar toegeken.
