Bermuda grass is very popular due to its carpet-like quality and vibrant green leaves. A native plant to subtropical countries, this warm climate grass flourishes wherever there is direct sunlight and good drainage. Not to mention, it will keep your outdoor space looking lush, green, and tropical!

So, how to plant bermuda grass?

  1. Plant this type during the warmer weather.

  2. Start by raking to loosen up the soil so that the new seeds can soak into the soil’s surface.

  3. Empty your packet of seeds into the soil’s surface and lightly rake them.

  4. Make the soil firm with either a roller or garden tractor tires.

  5. Once your seeds are planted, all that’s left to do is to water three to four times each day with about 1/8 inch of water each time.

  6. After your bermuda grass starts to sprout you can cut back on the watering to twice per day with a bit more water each time.

  7. And once your outdoor space is completely covered in grass, you can limit watering to twice per week.

How to plant frog grass

If you’re interested in a low maintenance type of grass, you might want to learn how to plant frog grass. Frog grass has a more compact lateral growth, which means that you don’t need to cut your lawn regularly. This type of grass is wonderful for walking and playing on, due to its semi-course, semi-soft quality.

  1. Start by spreading sprigs of the grass on the ground.

  2. Sprinkle soil on top and roll it flat.

  3. You can then generously water the soil until you start to see sprouting, which means they have rooted.

  4. The key with frog grass is to make sure you remove any weeds beforehand and wait a few days to ensure that no other weeds are going to grow. 

How to plant carabao grass

Is your home garden in a shaded area? If so, consider carabao grass for your lawn. Carabao grass is unique in that it survives better in semi-shaded areas. This type of grass is coarse and has pale green leaves that are narrow and thin. Keep in mind that this grass does grow rapidly and, therefore, requires regular maintenance and mowing. 

If you don’t mind the extra yard work, then here’s how to plant carabao grass:

  1. Purchase carabao grass in either seed packets or by small square pieces.

  2. If you’re sowing seeds, be sure that you level the surface of the ground that you’re planting on beforehand.

  3. In the first week, plan to water the seeds every day until they start growing into the soil.
