This portal links to information about Open Educational Resources (OER). Newcomers should start with the Introduction to Open Educational Resources (OER). The Wikiversity: namespace contains pages with more detailed information about the Wikiversity project. This portal provides a guide to the Open Educational Resources (OER) namespace, particularly the policy pages. Wikiversity is a relatively new wiki community (see Open Educational Resources (OER):History), so special emphasis is given to Open Educational Resources (OER) development. This portal also links to learning resources that help new visitors and active Wikiversity participants learn more about Wikiversity and how to use its wiki technology to promote learning. Since all of this is really too much for one portal, most of the links to learning resources about Wikiversity should be collected at this other portal. THIS portal is mostly a guide to policy and other "meta-level" topics.

Open Educational Resources (OER) began within the Wikibooks project (see the Wikibooks Open Educational Resources (OER) pages). A Open Educational Resources (OER) project proposal was approved that called for two major components of Wikiversity:
1) learning materials and
2) learning activities.
